PATRON
Judge Craig Howie (1956G) was
President of the Supreme Court of
Appeal of South Africa from 2003
until 2008. He was appointed to
the bench in 1978 and joined the
appellate division in 1993.
PRESIDENT
David Carter (1958G), retired from
the Nedbank Group, is a past chair
of the Bishops Council, past councillor
at St Cyprian’s and past president
of Round Table SA. He is one of four
generations of ODs; his grandson
Luke was head boy in 2025.
ODU COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Russell Adams (1987G) is a sports
administrator, currently consulting
at the MI Cape Town T20 franchise.
He chairs the sports, societies and
events sub-committee.
Nik Augoustatos (2023K) is
currently studying BCom Accounting
at Stellenbosch University. He chairs
the communications sub-committee.
VICE-PRESIDENTS
Mike Bosman, Brian de Kock,
John Hueton, John Langford, Les
Masterson, Tim Noakes, Alan Ramsay,
Brian Robertson and Peter Sauerman
are all vice-presidents of the ODU.
Andrew Bourne (2003O) is a leading
voice in business, technology, privacy,
security and digital skills development
in Africa. He is involved with the
IT portfolio, and serves on the
mentorship sub-committee.
Liam Rogers (2022G), studying postgraduate law in pursuit of an LLB, is
on the governance sub-committee.
Lawrence Rose (1978W) had a 30year print and digital career in New
York. He chairs the networking and
systems sub-committee.
Warwick Smith-Chandler (1975S),
a founder of several companies,
chairs the fundraising sub-committee.
He is based in Johannesburg.
Richard Webber (1977W) is a
commercial and industrial property
expert. He chairs the branches
sub-committee.

VICE-CHAIRMAN
David Leslie (1971W), also a qualified
CA, has had a long career in business,
from finance to general management.
He has experience in the NPO space.

Manfred Oelz (1976O) is a CA with
extensive practical experience in
business. Besides being treasurer,
he is on the finance sub-committee.

Jordan Flax (2014W) has hands-on
experience in launching, scaling and
advising betting businesses in Africa.
He chairs the Cape Town branch
sub-committee.
Richard Neville (1995S), a director
at Forsyth & Nash, chairs the
mentorship and bursaries subcommittees, and is involved in the
Bishops Rugby Development Fund.
Wouter Pentz (1987) is a successful
entrepreneur with 30 years of
experience in the property space.
He chairs the PODs sub-committee.
Mark Westcott (1977W), a practising
attorney, serves on the fundraising
and governance sub-committees.

Andy Wood (1977G) is the ODU’s
Executive Director. See opposite.
Gisela Zunckel is the new office and
events coordinator. She has a history
working in corporate healthcare, and
is a proud School House 2025 mom.
Dr Paul Murray, an integral part
of the Bishops landscape in various
roles since his arrival in 1991, is the
OD Ambassador.
